In small groups or pairs, you will work in breakout rooms. In your breakout room, put one of your paragraphs on the share screen. Then, answer the following questions about the paragraph.
Do the same for each person in your group.
Questions:
1. Identify the topic sentence and the controlling idea.
2. Does the writer directly respond to the prompt? How?
3. Does the writer give enough general support to explain his/her controlling idea?
4. Find some specific support.
5. Is the support believable and logical?
6. Do all the sentences support the topic sentence?
7. Does the conclusion restate the topic sentence?
8. Are there transition words throughout the paragraph to make the ideas flow together smoothly?
