Peer review for paragraph 2

In pairs or small groups, you will work in breakout rooms.  In your breakout room, put one of your paragraphs on the share screen.  Then, answer the following questions about the paragraph.

Do the same for each person in your group.

Questions:

1. Identify the topic sentence and  the controlling idea.
2. Does the writer directly respond to the prompt?  How?
3. Does the writer give enough general support to explain his/her controlling idea?
4. Find some specific support.
5. Is the support believable and logical?
6. Do all the sentences support the topic sentence?
7. Does the conclusion restate the topic sentence?  It shouldn’t bring in new ideas.
8. Are there transition words throughout the paragraph to make the ideas flow together smoothly?  Point a few of them out.
9. Is there a paraphrase? If so:
a. Does it support the controlling idea?
b. Does it give acknowledgement to the article and the author?
c. Is there a sentence which explains the paraphrase and shows how it connects to the controlling idea?
d. Is the original sentence included below the paragraph?
